Battle of Monday Hollow

For our October meeting, we took a short trip to to Beulah Church, which is just outside of Richland. There is a historical marker there to recognize the Battle of Monday Hollow that was placed there by The Missouri State Parks. The battle actually took place just west of the marker. It is on private property though, so we weren’t able to visit the actual site. John is very familiar with this battle, and he filled the group in on all the details.

Behind the church there is a cemetery. The Sons of Confederate Veterans placed a monument there in memory of the Confederate Soldiers who lost their lives during this skirmish.
After we left the cemetery, Jerry from our group invited us over to see his collection of war artifacts. He has such a large collection, along with so much knowledge about the history of each piece. It was very interesting to view his collection.

Although our group was small, we had a nice time. This was a good way to end our meetings for the year. We will pick up again on January 26th.

My son and I are very interested in the Battle of Monday Hollow. We have a family farm close to Richland, around the Montreal area. My son has a lot of questions that maybe Jerry could answer. If possible, we would love to pick his brain on some of these questions. Hopefully we could talk through email or phone.
I know about the battle
